There seems to be a national perception that Les Miles is a goofball. The reality is that he is the antithesis of a goofball. The new Kansas football coach is quirky but also brilliant. During the 2001 season (his first at Oklahoma State) and the 2002 spring-practice period, he pumped energy and confidence into a Cowboy program that had neither. His LSU record was 114-34 with a national championship, but that didn’t satisfy the people who decided to fire him four games into the 2016 season. Miles wasn’t appreciated in Louisiana because he wasn’t Nick Saban and because he rarely defeated Nick Saban. Against Saban-coached Alabama teams, Miles was 3-10.
